How to Uninstall Affinity Photo 2 on Mac
Save Affinity Photo 2 documents and custom assets before uninstalling. Keep the original .afphoto files and any linked images together, and do not treat an exported JPEG as an editable replacement. The recorded test used a direct download, not a Homebrew installation.
Remove the app and inspect its data
Quit Affinity Photo 2 and move its app from Applications to Trash. Inspect its display-name support folder for personal brushes or presets; leave data shared with Affinity Designer and Publisher in place. The app-named support folder is named by the cask; artwork saved elsewhere has its own owner and location. Review its contents before using zap. Vendor guidance.
After quitting, copy wanted local state from the paths below to an independent private backup outside the removal folders and verify it. In Finder, press Shift + Command + G to open each path or its parent, then move only existing unneeded app-specific items to the Trash. Keep shared parents and other apps' files:
~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo 2~/Library/Caches/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2~/Library/HTTPStorages/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2~/Library/Preferences/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2.plist~/Library/Saved Application State/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2.savedState~/Library/WebKit/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2
Retain the shared ~/Library/Group Containers/6LVTQB9699.com.seriflabs while any installed Affinity sibling still needs it; do not remove the Serif parent or another product’s data.
Check the result
ls -ld ~/Library/'Application Support'/'Affinity Photo 2' ~/Library/Preferences/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2.plist
Run this read-only check after quitting the app. A printed path still exists; “No such file or directory” means that path is absent, while a permission error needs its own investigation.
If you installed it with Homebrew
The Homebrew cask has a zap list that includes Application Support/Affinity Photo 2, cache, HTTP storage and preferences; not the shared Serif group. Run the command below without --zap if you want to keep those files and inspect them separately. A manual --zap follows the whole cask list regardless of Mole’s checkboxes. Mole skips --zap when its list reaches unchecked or shared data, or a removal scope it cannot verify; selected remnants still follow Mole's own removal flow.
brew uninstall --cask affinity-photo
What Mole lists
With Remove data and settings with apps off, the display-name support review row starts unchecked; with it on, an eligible existing own unshared row may start checked. Copy wanted presets and personal assets to an independent backup before deletion and uncheck the folder if it should remain. Exact bundle-ID cache and preferences are normally selected. The Serif group shared with Designer and Publisher is protected.
What this test covered
Affinity Photo 2.6.5 from the official package was removed on September 20, 2026. The shared Serif group remained; no artwork or cloud account recovery was tested.
