How to Uninstall Cardhop on Mac
Cardhop edits contacts in the accounts shown in its list. Confirm which account holds the cards you need and export or back them up through that account before removing the app. The recorded test used a direct download, not a Homebrew installation.
Remove the app and inspect its data
Quit Cardhop and its menu-bar helper, then remove Cardhop.app from Applications. Open System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions and turn off a remaining Cardhop launcher if listed. Do not delete macOS Contacts or a Fantastical data group. The Cardhop container and preference file are app-specific settings. Contacts stored in Apple, Google or another contact account are a separate owner; deleting the app is not a contacts-account deletion. Vendor guidance.
After quitting, copy any wanted Cardhop settings from the paths below to a separate backup and verify it. In Finder, press Shift + Command + G to open each location or its parent, then move only the named Cardhop item to the Trash if no longer needed. Leave contact-account data and shared Flexibits groups in place:
~/Library/Containers/com.flexibits.cardhop.mac~/Library/Containers/com.flexibits.cardhop.mac.BluetoothDialer~/Library/Containers/com.flexibits.cardhop.mac.launcher~/Library/Application Scripts/com.flexibits.cardhop.mac~/Library/Application Scripts/com.flexibits.cardhop.mac.BluetoothDialer~/Library/Application Scripts/com.flexibits.cardhop.mac.launcher~/Library/Preferences/com.flexibits.cardhop.mac.plist
Check the result
ls -ld ~/Library/Containers/com.flexibits.cardhop.mac ~/Library/Preferences/com.flexibits.cardhop.mac.plist
Run this read-only check after quitting the app. A printed path still exists; “No such file or directory” means that path is absent, while a permission error needs its own investigation.
If you installed it with Homebrew
The Homebrew cask has a zap list that includes Cardhop containers, launcher scripts and preferences; these are distinct from the contact accounts it edits. Run the command below without --zap if you want to keep those files and inspect them separately. A manual --zap follows the whole cask list regardless of Mole’s checkboxes. Mole skips --zap when the cask list reaches unchecked or shared data, or when it cannot verify the full removal scope; selected remnants still follow Mole's own removal flow.
brew uninstall --cask cardhop
What Mole lists
Exact Cardhop container and preference rows are normally selected. ~/Library/Group Containers/85C27NK92C.com.flexibits.cardhop.mac is the Cardhop group recorded in this test and needs individual review. Back up wanted state after quitting all Cardhop copies, then open this exact path in Finder and move it to the Trash only when no retained copy or other app uses or claims the group; keep it if ownership is unclear. A Flexibits group shared with installed Fantastical is protected; selecting Cardhop cannot claim Fantastical’s group.
What this test covered
The official-package Cardhop 2.5 removal was recorded on September 20, 2026. Its 16 KB ~/Library/Group Containers/85C27NK92C.com.flexibits.cardhop.mac residue and Fantastical sibling group were left, and the Cardhop login item was pruned. No contact account contents or sync restoration were checked.
