How to Uninstall Framer on Mac

Open important Framer projects in the browser and confirm the workspace access you need before removing the desktop client. A published site or browser project is not deleted by moving the Mac app to Trash. The recorded test used a direct download, not a Homebrew installation.

Remove the app and inspect its data

Before removing Framer, open the projects you want to keep in the browser and check whether any local work is missing. Then quit Framer and move Framer.app from Applications to Trash. Review locally stored app state separately from workspace membership and billing. The cask names the Framer support folder and preferences; keep that folder until the browser copy is confirmed. Vendor guidance.

After quitting, copy wanted local state from the paths below to an independent private backup outside the removal folders and verify it. In Finder, press Shift + Command + G to open each path or its parent, then move only existing unneeded app-specific items to the Trash. Keep shared parents and other apps' files:

    • ~/Library/Application Support/com.apple.sharedfilelist/com.apple.LSSharedFileList.ApplicationRecentDocuments/com.framer.electron.sfl*
    • ~/Library/Application Support/Framer
    • ~/Library/Caches/com.framer.electron
    • ~/Library/Caches/com.framer.electron.ShipIt
    • ~/Library/HTTPStorages/com.framer.electron
    • ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.framer.electron.ShipIt.*.plist
    • ~/Library/Preferences/com.framer.electron.plist
    • ~/Library/Saved Application State/com.framer.electron.savedState

For a * pattern, open the parent in Finder and select only actual entries matching this app; preserve shared parents and any retained version’s data.

    Check the result

    ls -ld ~/Library/'Application Support'/Framer ~/Library/Preferences/com.framer.electron.plist

Run this read-only check after quitting the app. A printed path still exists; “No such file or directory” means that path is absent, while a permission error needs its own investigation.

If you installed it with Homebrew

The Homebrew cask has a zap list that includes Application Support/Framer, caches, HTTP storage and preferences, not workspace billing or published sites. Run the command below without --zap if you want to keep those files and inspect them separately. A manual --zap follows the whole cask list regardless of Mole’s checkboxes. Mole skips --zap when its list reaches unchecked or shared data, or a removal scope it cannot verify; selected remnants still follow Mole's own removal flow.

    brew uninstall --cask framer

    What Mole lists

With Remove data and settings with apps off, the listed Framer support review row starts unchecked; with it on, an eligible existing own unshared row may start checked. Verify an independent backup before deletion and uncheck data you want to retain. Exact bundle-ID cache and preferences are normally selected. Mole does not cancel subscriptions or delete workspace projects.

    What this test covered

Framer 2026.34.0 from the official archive was removed on September 20, 2026. The selected support folder was removed; the test did not sign in or verify a real project or published site.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
