    Home/Apps tested with Mole

How to Uninstall Hoppscotch on Mac

Export collections and environments you need before removing Hoppscotch Desktop. The recorded test never signed in, so it does not establish what a workspace can restore afterward. The recorded test used a direct download, not a Homebrew installation.

Remove the app and inspect its data

Before quitting, use Export in each wanted collection's options and choose the format to save locally, then verify collections and environments outside the removal folders. The environment documentation says secret variable values are neither synced nor exported, so preserve needed secrets separately in your private password store.

Quit Hoppscotch and remove Hoppscotch.app from Applications. A separate browser extension or web workspace, if used, remains outside the desktop bundle. The exact app support and WebKit folders can carry local desktop state. Keep exported request data outside those folders before selecting removal. Vendor guidance.

After quitting, copy wanted local state from the paths below to an independent private backup outside the removal folders and verify it. In Finder, press Shift + Command + G to open each path or its parent, then move only existing unneeded app-specific items to the Trash. Keep shared parents and other apps' files:

    • ~/Library/Application Support/io.hoppscotch.desktop
    • ~/Library/Caches/io.hoppscotch.desktop
    • ~/Library/Saved Application State/io.hoppscotch.desktop.savedState
    • ~/Library/WebKit/io.hoppscotch.desktop

    Check the result

    ls -ld ~/Library/'Application Support'/io.hoppscotch.desktop ~/Library/WebKit/io.hoppscotch.desktop

Run this read-only check after quitting the app. A printed path still exists; “No such file or directory” means that path is absent, while a permission error needs its own investigation.

If you installed it with Homebrew

The Homebrew cask has a zap list that includes Application Support/io.hoppscotch.desktop, cache, saved state and WebKit data. Run the command below without --zap if you want to keep those files and inspect them separately. A manual --zap follows the whole cask list regardless of Mole’s checkboxes. Mole skips --zap when its list reaches unchecked or shared data, or a removal scope it cannot verify; selected remnants still follow Mole's own removal flow.

    brew uninstall --cask hoppscotch

    What Mole lists

Exact bundle-ID application support, cache and WebKit rows are normally selected, so verify your independent backup first and uncheck wanted local state. Mole does not erase a web workspace or account.

    What this test covered

The official Hoppscotch 26.8.0 package was copied and removed on September 20, 2026. No sign-in, collection export or remote sync was exercised.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
