How to Uninstall LaunchBar on Mac
Before removing LaunchBar, keep any custom Actions and indexing rules you intend to reuse. The index points to files; removing the launcher does not remove those source files. The recorded test used a direct download, not a Homebrew installation.
Remove the app and inspect its data
Before quitting, inspect custom rules in the index window; the vendor documents Actions in the support folder. Then quit LaunchBar from its menu-bar interface and move the app from Applications to Trash. Keep ~/Library/Application Support/LaunchBar if it holds Actions or other custom configuration; a cache can be rebuilt. Vendor guidance.
After quitting, copy wanted local state from the paths below to an independent private backup outside the removal folders and verify it. In Finder, press Shift + Command + G to open each path or its parent, then move only existing unneeded app-specific items to the Trash. Keep shared parents and other apps' files:
~/Library/Application Support/LaunchBar~/Library/Caches/at.obdev.LaunchBar~/Library/Preferences/at.obdev.LaunchBar.plist~/Library/Saved Application State/at.obdev.LaunchBar.savedState
Check the result
ls -ld ~/Library/'Application Support'/LaunchBar ~/Library/Preferences/at.obdev.LaunchBar.plist
Run this read-only check after quitting the app. A printed path still exists; “No such file or directory” means that path is absent, while a permission error needs its own investigation.
If you installed it with Homebrew
The Homebrew cask has a zap list that includes Application Support/LaunchBar, its cache, preferences and saved state. Run the command below without --zap if you want to keep those files and inspect them separately. A manual --zap follows the whole cask list regardless of Mole’s checkboxes. Mole skips --zap when its list reaches unchecked or shared data, or a removal scope it cannot verify; selected remnants still follow Mole's own removal flow.
brew uninstall --cask launchbar
What Mole lists
With Remove data and settings with apps off, the listed display-name support row starts unchecked. With it on, an eligible existing own unshared row may start checked; back up wanted Actions and rules, then uncheck the folder to retain it. Exact bundle-ID cache and preferences are normally selected.
What this test covered
LaunchBar 6.24 was removed from the official package on September 20, 2026. Accessibility permission was not granted, and a 52 KB support folder remained after the run. Its first-run process was seen, but later Status capture did not show a row.
