How to uninstall 芒果TV on Mac

If 芒果TV has downloaded programmes on this Mac, review the app’s download list and decide what to keep before removing local data. Check account history or purchases in the service separately; the tested app was only opened briefly and did not establish signed-in playback or downloads.

The recorded test used the official Mac package.

    Remove the app

Quit 芒果TV and move 芒果TV.app from Applications to Trash. The vendor’s download center lists a Mac client. Do not clear video files or another app’s container merely because a name contains MGTV; inspect their owner first.

    Review local data

The path below was observed in the recorded test. In Finder, use Go › Go to Folder to inspect it. Do not remove its parent directory or another product’s data.

    Location Decision
~/Library/Containers/com.mgtv.MGTV-macOS A 12 KB container survived the test but was not listed by Mole because its ID differs from the tested pcclientx bundle ID. Inspect before any manual action.
~/Library/Caches/com.mgtv.pcclientx Exact tested-ID cache, if present.
~/Library/WebKit/com.mgtv.pcclientx Exact tested-ID web data, if present.
~/Library/HTTPStorages/com.mgtv.pcclientx Exact tested-ID HTTP storage, if present.
~/Library/Preferences/com.mgtv.pcclientx.plist Exact tested-ID preferences, if present.

After quitting all app copies, COPY the whole existing confirmed own folders and wanted preference files in the table to an independent private backup outside sync and all removal folders and verify the copies. Open each location in Finder and move only confirmed unwanted app-owned items to the Trash. Keep shared parents and any other installed owner’s data; retain an alternate-ID container if its ownership cannot be confirmed.

The tested package uses bundle ID com.mgtv.pcclientx. Review only files that actually appear on this Mac. A missing path needs no cleanup.

    Vendor documentation

    Check what remains

Run these read-only commands after quitting the app:

    pgrep -il '芒果TV'
    ls -d "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.mgtv.MGTV-macOS"

No process output means this process-name pattern did not match; also inspect Activity Monitor for confirmed app processes, and do not treat it as proof every helper is gone. A listed process needs its owner checked. If ls prints the path, that item remains and needs review. “No such file or directory” means this path is absent; a permission error means its state was not established.

If you installed it with Homebrew

The current cask manages 芒果TV.app and declares no additional uninstall step. Its zap includes ~/Library/Caches/com.mgtv.pcclientx, ~/Library/Containers/com.mgtv.MGTV-macOS, ~/Library/Preferences/com.mgtv.pcclientx.plist and ~/Library/Saved Application State/com.mgtv.pcclientx.savedState. Inspect and back up wanted container data first. Direct brew uninstall --cask --zap imgotv removes these targets independently of Mole’s checkboxes, including the alternate-ID container. Without zap:

    brew uninstall --cask imgotv

Mole skips zap when a target is unchecked, shared or unverifiable, and still removes selected remnants. This channel was not tested.

    What Mole lists

For a com.mgtv.pcclientx app, Mole selects exact-ID cache, WebKit, HTTP storage and preference rows by default. The differently named com.mgtv.MGTV-macOS container is not automatically attributed to that identity; inspect it separately.

    What this test covered

The official Mac app 6.5.9 was installed and removed on September 20, 2026. The exact-ID cache, WebKit, HTTP storage and preferences were trashed. A 12 KB alternate-ID container remained unlisted, and temporary WebKit entries failed with Trash error 513. The test did not verify downloads or account state.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
