    Uninstall MindNode on Mac

Save your mind maps and verify that local or iCloud documents open. Export an additional format if you want to use them without MindNode, but keep the editable original; an image export cannot replace it. This guide covers the Mac App Store version. If you subscribe through the App Store, deleting the app does not cancel the subscription; manage it in your App Store account settings.

    Quit and remove the app

Finish saving and syncing, quit MindNode, and move it from Applications to the Trash. Keep your mind-map files. MindNode also ships a Quick Look preview and widgets inside the app; they go with it.

    Where MindNode keeps its data

In Finder, press Shift + Command + G and open each location that exists.

Location What it holds What to do
~/Library/Containers/com.ideasoncanvas.mindnode The app's sandboxed data and settings Check for maps saved inside it before removing it
~/Library/Group Containers/W6L39UYL6Z.group.com.IdeasOnCanvas.MindNode Data shared between the app and its extensions Keep it while another MindNode version is installed
Your own folders and iCloud Drive Your mind maps Keep them; they are not app data

If a map is viewable but no longer editable

Check whether you kept the original MindNode document or only an exported image. An image preserves a view but not editable nodes, links, and notes. With iCloud sync, open a recently edited map on another Mac, iPhone or iPad before uninstalling, and keep an independent copy.

    Check the result

Run these read-only commands in Terminal:

    pgrep -il MindNode
    mdfind "kMDItemCFBundleIdentifier == 'com.ideasoncanvas.mindnode'"
    ls -d "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.ideasoncanvas.mindnode" "$HOME/Library/Group Containers/W6L39UYL6Z.group.com.IdeasOnCanvas.MindNode"

No output from pgrep means MindNode is not running. No output from mdfind means Spotlight finds no remaining copy of the app; a path in the output is a copy still on disk, such as a second version. For ls, "No such file or directory" means the folder is gone; a listed path still exists.

Finally, check that saved documents and exports remain usable.

    What Mole lists

In the inspected installation Mole listed 12 rows and selected 6 of them by default, including the app container. It also lists the W6L39UYL6Z.group.com.IdeasOnCanvas.MindNode app group and the Quick Look and widget containers; look at each checkbox before you continue, and do not delete a shared container just because its name contains MindNode.

    What this test covered

MindNode was inspected, not uninstalled. On September 22 and 23, 2026, a development build of Mole 1.15 previewed the removal plan for an existing App Store installation of version 2026.5.1 and nothing was deleted. MindNode

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
