How to uninstall NetEase Mail Master on Mac
NetEase Mail Master is a sandboxed mail client, so what it keeps on this Mac sits in one container folder under ~/Library/Containers. Mail stored on your provider's server is not affected by removing the app, but anything that only exists locally, such as a draft that has not synced or an attachment you saved inside the app, should be copied out first. This covers the official package from dashi.163.com (its download link expects a browser, so download it in Safari or Chrome) and the Homebrew cask mailmaster.
Quit NetEase Mail Master and remove the app
- Copy out any local draft or attachment you still want, then quit the app from its Dock icon or menu.
- Find 网易邮箱大师 in Finder's Applications folder and move it to the Trash.
Where its data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| ~/Library/Containers/com.netease.macmail | The app's sandbox: its settings and locally stored mail data | Selected by default in Mole; copy out anything you still need before removing it |
| ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.netease.macmail | Sandbox scripts folder, no mail content | Selected by default |
Mole can also list ~/Library/Containers/com.netease.macmail-launcher and ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.netease.macmail-launcher from Homebrew’s zap list. With Remove data and settings with apps off, these review rows start unticked; with it on, only eligible selectable rows confirmed to be unshared can be preselected. Uncheck any data you want to keep.
In the recorded test, Mole's move of the main container to the Trash was refused. The recorded Trash permission error alone does not establish why it failed. Read the current uninstall result before retrying. Check Full Disk Access only if the result identifies missing access; after backing up local mail and quitting, you can also open ~/Library/Containers in Finder and try moving only com.netease.macmail to the Trash. A refusal is not proof of removal, and this test did not verify a successful retry.
Check the result
pgrep -il mailmaster
ls -d ~/Library/Containers/com.netease.macmail
- No output from
pgrepmeans the mail client is not running; a listed process means it is still open, so quit it first. ls -dprinting the path means the container, and the local mail data inside it, is still on disk; "No such file or directory" means it is gone.
If you installed it with Homebrew
Mole skips --zap when its list reaches unchecked or shared data, or cannot be fully checked, and still cleans the leftovers you selected.
The mailmaster cask's zap list covers both Containers folders, both Application Scripts folders, a recent-documents list in com.apple.sharedfilelist, the preferences file and the saved window state. When Mole shows the -launcher rows and you leave them unticked, Mole drops --zap. Running brew uninstall --cask --zap mailmaster yourself removes the main container with your local mail data whatever you ticked in Mole, so copy out what you need first, or remove only the app:
brew uninstall --cask mailmaster
Account
Removing the app does not delete mail on your provider's servers. If you added accounts such as Gmail or QQ Mail inside the app and want to revoke its access, do that in each service's own account settings.
What Mole lists
For NetEase Mail Master, Mole's Uninstall tab selects the app, ~/Library/Containers/com.netease.macmail and ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.netease.macmail by default. A container still on disk has not been removed. Follow the actual error in the result; do not infer a Full Disk Access problem from its presence alone.
What this test covered
On September 19, 2026, the official package was copied into Applications, opened, and removed with a Mole 1.15 Preview (build 277). The app came off, and the main container failed to move to the Trash with a Trash permission error. Mole showed no update channel for this copy, which had no Homebrew receipt. Signing in to a mail account, syncing mail and the Homebrew cask were not tested.
