    Uninstall PureMac on Mac

Review PureMac’s own exclusions or scan preferences before uninstalling it; files it previously scanned belong to their original apps. The September 19, 2026 record covers the app copied from the official package.

    Quit and remove the app

Before quitting, open PureMac Settings with Command + , and choose Schedule. Turn off Enable scheduled scanning, then quit PureMac and move PureMac.app to the Trash. If a PureMac entry remains in System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions, turn off that specific entry. The current scheduling control is verified in PureMac's settings source. The official page has more product information.

    Review the app’s data

After quitting, copy ~/Library/Preferences/com.puremac.app.plist somewhere separate if you want to reuse your settings. In Finder, press Shift + Command + G to open the parent of each item below, select only the named PureMac item and move it to the Trash:

    • ~/Library/Caches/com.puremac.app
    • ~/Library/Preferences/com.puremac.app.plist

If ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.puremac.scheduler.plist remains, open it first and verify that its Label is com.puremac.scheduler and ProgramArguments point to PureMac. For that verified file only, stop its loaded user job before moving the plist to the Trash:

    launchctl bootout "gui/$(id -u)" "$HOME/Library/LaunchAgents/com.puremac.scheduler.plist"

A successful command stops that job. If it reports that the service is not loaded, there is no loaded job to stop; a permission error does not establish this. Do not remove other LaunchAgents. The exact file and program are documented in PureMac's scheduler source.

If you installed it with Homebrew

The Homebrew cask has its own --zap list. brew uninstall --cask puremac removes the cask without that list; brew uninstall --cask --zap puremac also acts on its listed data without consulting Mole’s checkboxes. Zap includes the scheduler plist; verify its exact owner before running it. Mole skips --zap when its list reaches unchecked or shared data, or a removal scope it cannot verify; selected remnants still follow Mole’s own removal flow.

    brew uninstall --cask puremac

    Check the result

These commands inspect the running process and one relevant location. They do not remove anything:

    pgrep -il "PureMac"
    ls -ld "$HOME/Library/LaunchAgents/com.puremac.scheduler.plist"

No pgrep match means no process with that name is running; a match needs identification before quitting anything. A listed path still exists, while an ls “No such file” error means only that exact path is absent. A permission error is inconclusive.

    What Mole lists

Mole selects exact PureMac bundle-ID cache and preference rows by default when safe. A scheduler Launch Agent needs its exact label and owner checked before removal.

    What this test covered

The September 19, 2026 official-package run removed PureMac 3.0.0. The recorded review did not establish whether an enabled scheduled scan was removed.

If Mac apps leave files behind after uninstalling, try Mole. I've personally tested and inspected 799 Mac apps.
