Uninstall WeChat DevTools on Mac
Save local mini-program projects and confirm any wanted account state before uninstalling WeChat DevTools. A project directory is not an app remnant. The September 19, 2026 record covers the app copied from the official package.
Quit and remove the app
Quit all developer-tool windows and helper processes, then move 微信开发者工具.app to Trash. Keep source projects and developer account settings outside the app’s own profile. The official page has more product information.
Review the app’s data
After saving your source projects and quitting, copy ~/Library/Application Support/微信开发者工具 to a separate backup if you need the local account or tool state. Verify the copied files before deleting the profile. In Finder, press Shift + Command + G to open each location or its parent, then move only the named developer-tool item to the Trash if no longer wanted:
~/Library/Application Support/微信开发者工具~/Library/Caches/微信开发者工具~/Library/Preferences/com.tencent.webplusdevtools.plist~/Library/Preferences/com.tencent.wechat.devtools.plist~/Library/Saved Application State/com.tencent.wechat.devtools.savedState
Skip missing items.
If you installed it with Homebrew
The Homebrew cask has its own --zap list. brew uninstall --cask wechatwebdevtools removes the cask without that list; brew uninstall --cask --zap wechatwebdevtools also acts on its listed data without consulting Mole’s checkboxes. Zap includes the whole profile. Copy any projects or account-related files you need outside that folder and open the copies before choosing zap; otherwise use the command below without zap and leave the profile in place. Mole also suppresses zap if its list reaches unchecked data, another app’s shared data, or a scope it cannot verify; it still removes the selected remnants.
brew uninstall --cask wechatwebdevtools
Check the result
These commands inspect the running process and one relevant location. They do not remove anything:
pgrep -il "微信开发者工具"
ls -ld "$HOME/Library/Application Support/微信开发者工具"
No pgrep match means no process with that name is running; a match needs identification before quitting anything. A listed path still exists, while an ls “No such file” error means only that exact path is absent. A permission error is inconclusive.
What Mole lists
With Remove data and settings with apps off, Mole leaves the developer-tool Application Support profile unselected. With it on, a reviewed profile row can be preselected only when eligible and not shared; uncheck it to keep your local tool state. It can select exact product cache or preference rows where ownership is known; the recorded generic com.github.Electron identity is insufficient to claim another Electron app's files.
What this test covered
The September 19, 2026 official-package test removed the app but retained its 258 MB Application Support profile as user data. Eight Electron helpers appeared as one product row in Status; no signed-in project sync was verified.
