How to Uninstall 为知笔记 on Mac
Check important notes in the web client and keep an independent export before removing 为知笔记. The recorded uninstall did not sign in, so it says nothing about the survival of a real notebook. The recorded test used a direct download, not a Homebrew installation.
Remove the app and inspect its data
Quit WizNote.app and move it from Applications to Trash. Inspect its support folder before deciding whether local drafts or attachments can go. ~/Library/Application Support/WizNote held 21.8 MB in the recorded installation. The separate Application Support/Caches/wiznote-desktop-updater path is named by the cask as updater cache, not a notebook folder. Vendor guidance.
Verify wanted note exports and attachments first; a web copy may not include unsynced local edits. After quitting, copy wanted local state from the paths below to an independent private backup outside the removal folders and verify it. In Finder, press Shift + Command + G to open each path or its parent, then move only existing unneeded app-specific items to the Trash. Keep shared parents and other apps' files:
~/Library/Application Support/WizNote~/Library/Application Support/Caches/wiznote-desktop-updater~/Library/Caches/cn.wiznote.desktop~/Library/Caches/cn.wiznote.desktop.ShipIt~/Library/Logs/WizNote~/Library/Preferences/cn.wiznote.desktop.plist~/Library/Saved Application State/cn.wiznote.desktop.savedState
For ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/cn.wiznote.desktop.ShipIt.*.plist, open ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost and inspect only existing filenames with that exact prefix and .plist ending, keeping the parent and other apps' preferences. The star is a pattern rather than a literal path.
Check the result
ls -ld ~/Library/'Application Support'/WizNote ~/Library/Logs/WizNote
Run this read-only check after quitting the app. A printed path still exists; “No such file or directory” means that path is absent, while a permission error needs its own investigation.
If you installed it with Homebrew
The Homebrew cask has a zap list that includes Application Support/WizNote, updater cache, logs and preferences; the support folder may contain wanted data. Run the command below without --zap if you want to keep those files and inspect them separately. A manual --zap follows the whole cask list regardless of Mole’s checkboxes. Mole skips --zap when its list reaches unchecked or shared data, or a removal scope it cannot verify; selected remnants still follow Mole's own removal flow.
brew uninstall --cask wiznote
What Mole lists
With Remove data and settings with apps off, the listed display-name Application Support/WizNote row starts unchecked. With it on, an eligible existing own unshared row may start checked; verify the backup and uncheck data you want to keep. Exact bundle-ID cache and preferences are normally selected; confirm any retained local notes before selecting the support row.
What this test covered
Official-package 0.1.107 was removed on September 20 and retested on September 21, 2026. In the selected-review run, the 21.8 MB support folder and logs were removed. No login, sync, notebook export or attachment recovery was tested.
